This specific maternity session was very special to me. Not only was it one of the first times I shot mostly film (which was sooooo exciting), but it was also one of the most rewarding photo shoots I have done in a while. Before we started the photo shoot, Crystal was telling me how she has been so uncomfortable with her body being bigger and didn’t realize what she had gotten herself into doing this photo shoot. Given that she has been professionally modeling for many years and has appeared in ads of Gap and such, I could definitely understand how she was feeling even if I didn’t agree haha. In my opinion she looked absolutely beautiful and we were over the moon excited to take her photos. We just knew these images would turn out amazing. And at the end of the day, Crystal thanked us for making her feel so beautiful and that she really enjoyed the shoot. That alone made this shoot very rewarding. Seeing people feel good about themselves and knowing you had a hand in that, is the just the best. Photography is not just about creating a pretty picture or snapping away with a camera–it’s so much more. It’s about evoking emotion, bringing out the best in others, capturing the beauty in the simple things in life, and bringing a smile to another person’s face. I couldn’t be happier doing this for living.
